This Friday at Hollywood Ballroom, we're teaching a class called "Finding the One." We're excited to share these concepts with you. We hope to see you there!
Two weeks ago, on Friday, May 17, we taught a workshop at HB that we call "A Smorgasbord of Anchors." We really enjoyed seeing the way everyone put their own personal stamp on the footwork variations we taught, and once again, we saw people playing with incorporating what they had learned into their social dancing. Yay!
In other news, last weekend, Roger joined dcRolePlay in Seattle at The International Association of Gay/Lesbian Country Western Dance Clubs' Annual Hoedown, where the team danced this year's routine on Saturday night in front of a very enthusiastic crowd. The performance went very well (click on the video to watch it), and the audience went crazy at the end! Gary McIntyre and Susan Kirklin's choreography is very complex, and Roger (the team coach) is very proud of everyone on the team for all the hard work they have put into the weekly practices. Stay tuned for announcements of upcoming local performances and road trip competitions/exhibitions of this great routine!
During this past week, our ballet student and dear friend Charlotte Lanning was featured on XCLevation.com, a website focusing on recovery from sports injury. We worked with Charlotte for several months in 2018, helping her get back to dancing after a serious injury and subsequent surgery. She has worked extremely hard to return to her career as a professional ballet dancer in Romania, and we are so happy to have been able to help her on her journey to recovery. We love you, Charlotte!
Coming up next week, Roger and Debbie Tuttle-Steffanina will begin teaching this year's West Coast Swing Rally / Flashmob choreography! It starts Thursday, June 6. Classes will be held at Maryland School of Dance in North Bethesda / Rockville, not far from Rendezvous and Avant Garde. There will be 12 classes over the summer, culminating on August 31, when we'll dance the choreography at the Jefferson Memorial. See the video of the choreography below, the DC Facebook event page here, and the class information page here. Please join us--it's lots of fun!
